CanyonLands National Park, Utah
Lower CanyonLands National Park, Utah
The Needles

The prettiest part of this park, in my opinion, is the canyon drive to the park entrance. Drive slow and keep your eyes open for scenes and wildlife.

These CanyonLands National Park, Utah pictures were taken in June, 2001 on a trip from Texas to Washington. I spent only 5 hours in the park where the temperature was as high as 105 degrees. This is a pretty park and you spend your time driving the rim looking down into the canyons. You can drive into the canyon valleys with a 4-wheel drive.

There are two sections to the park, one south of Moab called the Needles and the one north of Moab called Island-In-The-Sky. The Dead Horse Point State Park, north and east of Island-In-The-Sky is a short side trip worth seeing. Make sure you plan your hikes, tell others were you are going, stay on the trails and take an adequate supply of water.

All pictures were taken between 10AM and 3PM with an Olympus D-620L digital camera using a polarizing filter. Pictures balanced and reduced in Photoshop. These pictures are low resolution not suitable for printing. Click on the slide to view a larger version of the picture (about 5 seconds to download the picture).
