Arches National Park, Utah

The Arches National Park, Utah pictures were taken in June, 2001 on a trip from Texas to Washington. I spent only 2 hours in the park as I wanted a picture of Delicate Arch, but the park service created a 2 mile hike to the arch since the last time I was there. I did not have time to make the hike needing to get to Canyonlands. Mac, my sheltie, was not allowed on the trail and I was alone.

The Arches is a park where you really need to get out of your car and hike to many of the scenic features. This is high desert country and it can get very hot in mid summer. Make sure you plan your hikes, tell others were you are going, stay on the trails and take an adequate supply of water. You really need to spend two or three days to see it all.

All pictures were taken between 8AM and 10AM with an Olympus D-620L digital camera using a polarizing filter. The red colors seem a little strong, but that is the color of the rock formations. Pictures balanced and reduced in Photoshop. These pictures are low resolution not suitable for printing.
